About My Practice

“The most powerful relationship you will ever have is the relationship with your Self”.

In my private psychotherapy practice, I offer holistic treatment for stress, anxiety depression, relationship challenges, grief and bereavement, life transitions, spiritual development, and more. I am an interactive, relationally oriented, body-mind-spirit practitioner who acknowledges the wisdom and intelligence of the mind and body while also recognizing that true healing is only possible through establishing a relationship with the Higher Self (aka, Inner Therapist, Buddha Nature, Holy Spirit, Wise Self, etc.).  It is my intention to not only guide you toward the relief from the emotional discomfort you are experiencing but also to help you develop practical self-help skills that will empower you to continue to heal and transform your life, even after you’ve completed therapy.

I draw on an array of techniques and approaches that are intended to accomplish at least two very important and life-changing goals. One, to bring relief from mental chaos and emotional suffering, and two, to offer education on how to transform life challenges (including the natural and unavoidable up-down nature of life) into an experience you look forward to with curiosity, willingness, and Love, rather than guilt and fear.

As a therapist and fellow traveler, I am wholeheartedly dedicated to supporting my clients in discovering life anew—in other words, understanding life to be a gift, including its challenges. My approach is many things, but above all else, it is one that recognizes that you are already whole and healthy and that nothing is actually wrong with you, even though it may feel or seem that way at this moment.  You can count on me to offer a safe, supportive environment for you to engage constructively with pain from the past and fears of the future so that you can rediscover the joy in your life, here and now.

What to Expect

Prior to meeting in person, I will connect with you over the phone. During this free, 20-minute phone consultation, we will have a chance to get a sense of one another and determine whether or not we are a good fit. This will be a time for you to share why you are interested in psychotherapy and to ask any questions you may have. Then, if it feels right, we will schedule a time to meet in person. Generally, you can expect to come in for your first session the following week. I aim to respond to initial calls within 24 hours.

First Session:

Our first meeting is an in-person opportunity to get to know each other and see how we work together. By the end of the session, we will determine if it makes sense to find a consistent meeting time that works with your schedule. First and foremost, I want to establish a therapeutic relationship built on trust and safety. During our first meeting, we will take the time to discuss a few important logistics, including my confidentiality policy, and your personal history, including what has brought you to therapy. I will only ask that you share as much as you are comfortable with, trusting that, should we agree to continue meeting, you will have other opportunities to share more at a later time. However much you decide to share, I am here to listen, without judgment.

At the end of the first session, I will give you a few forms to complete and bring with you to your next session. These forms can also easily be downloaded from my website.

Continuing Sessions:

During our sessions, we will address any concerns or challenges that feel important or pressing to you. Generally, our focus will be on the life challenge(s) that brought you to therapy; however, the therapy process lends itself well to flexibility, so we might also explore other concerns as they arise. As I help you deepen your awareness of the challenges you are working on, you can begin to see yourself making changes that break unhelpful patterns and provide new routes toward healing.

It’s possible and even likely that, in our meetings, you may experience sensations and emotions that you don’t fully understand or feel comfortable with. That’s perfectly normal. Our time together will provide you with many opportunities to patiently and compassionately investigate everything that is arising for you. At every step along the way, I will be attuned to you and your experience, continuously bringing you back to a place of safety so you can process and heal.

*I welcome adult clients of any race, color, national origin, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, relationship style, religion (or non-religion), creed, body size, etc.  All are welcome!
